Installation Instructions for ixFlashcard Mobile
There are two ways to install ixFlashcard Mobile 5.02 (or 4.01).

OTA
 1. The easiest if you are using a smart phone (such as the HTC Touch or a handheld with a direct connection to the internet i.e. you have wifi configured), is to point the web browser on your device to the following web address http://www.thirddevice.com/m and follow the process outlined there.



SYNC
 2. The second method is to download the install file from here and follow the process outlined below to install the software by syncing your device with your desktop computer (which is also very easy, it just involves an additional step or two).


A few notes:

IMPORTANT: BE SURE TO UNINSTALL ALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF IXFLASHCARD PRIOR TO INSTALLING A NEWER VERSION

IMPORTANT: If you are using a Pocket PC with PocketPC OS 2002 or earlier, you will need to download and install version 1.06. For devices with PocketPC OS 2003 and some Windows Mobile v. 5 you will need to download and install version 4.01 (try 5.02 first - if it fails to install and run, then try 4.01). All other newer devices can download and install version 5.02 and up.

SYNC Install Instructions for Version 5.02 and 4.01:
(Windows Mobile v. 5, 6 & PocketPC OS 2003 and up)
  • Step 1:
    		• Unzip the zip file that you downloaded (ixFlashcard 502.zip or ixFlashcard401.zip).

  • Step 2:
    		• Copy the appropriate file ('ixFlashcard502.CAB' or 'ixFlashcard401.CAB') to your device. This can be done in one of two ways:


    		 1. Copy the file to your sync folder on your PC (commonly found on the desktop - entitled 'My Handheld Documents') and Sync your device.


    		 2. Copy directly to your handheld using activesync (Sync your device, then click on the 'Explore' button on the activesync window. Then copy the file into the window that opens).
  • Step 3:
    		• Sync your handheld.

  • Step 4:
    		• Open the 'File Explorer' application from the 'Programs' and click on the CAB file that you loaded. Follow the install process on your handheld, answering "YES" to the questions that your device asks. This will install the application and finish the install process.


    		 NOTE: If your device warns you that this program may not operate correctly without installing the following file: netcf.all.wce4.armv4.cab, DISREGARD this message. A newer version of this file should already be installed by default on all Windows Mobile devices.
  • Step 5:
    		• Use ixFlashcard. You can start the program from the programs folder on your device. There will be an icon titled 'ixFlashcard'.

  • Step 6:
    		• Create your own flashcard files. Instructions on how to do this can be found in the user manual.



    SYNC Install Instructions for Version 1.06:
    (PocketPC OS 2002)
  • Step 1: Unzip the zip file that you downloaded.
  • Step 2: Copy the folder 'flashcards' to your device. The folder should be located in your 'My Documents' folder on the device. This can be done, by either copying the folder to your sync folder on your PC (commonly found on the desktop - entitled 'My Handheld Documents'), or copy directly to your handheld using activesync (Sync your device, then click on the 'Explore' button on the activesync window. Then copy the folder into the window that opens).
  • Step 3: Run the setup.exe program. This will copy the needed files that will be installed on the next sync.
  • Step 4: Sync your handheld. This will finish the install procedure.
  • Step 5: Use ixFlashcard. You can start the program from the Programs folder on your device.
  • Step 6: Create your own flashcard files. Instructions on how to do this can be found in the user manual.
